The last date for registration to participate in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction was January 20. So far 1,214 players from 19 countries have shown interest to be a part of this mega auction. This includes 896 players from India and 318 from abroad.

The mega auction for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League will be held on February 12 and 13. The registration for this closed on January 20 and so far 1,214 players from 19 countries have been nominated. This includes 896 Indian and 318 foreign players. However, this is not the final list of the mega auction. Right now the players will be shortlisted and only the selected players will be included in the final list. This time 10 teams will participate in the Mega Auction. Lucknow and Ahmedabad are the two new teams joining the IPL from this season.

Of the 1,214 players included in the first list of Mega Auction, 270 are those who have played at least one match for their country. At the same time, there are 903 players who have not played any match for their country. In this, 41 players are also from countries where the team is not allowed to play Test cricket. These teams play only T20 or ODI matches.

Maximum 217 players will be sold in the mega auction


A team of IPL can add a maximum of 25 and a minimum of 18 players. In this sense, all 10 teams together can buy a maximum of 250 players. Of this, 33 players have already been retained. This means that a maximum of 217 players can be bought in the Mega Auction. The maximum number of foreign players in this is 70.

Which players will be bid in the mega auction
270 players who have played at least one match for their country. This includes 61 Indian and 209 foreign players.

  • 41 players whose national team still does not have Test team status. (eg – Namibia, Canada etc.)
  • 149 players, who have played IPL in the past but have not played for their country. This includes 143 Indian and six foreign players.
  • 692 Indian players who have not played any match for Team India.
  • 62 overseas players who have not played any international match.
