Let us understand the equation…

England has strengthened its place at the top in Group 1. England’s net run rate is also very strong. In such a situation, this team is a strong contender to enter the next round. At the same time, South Africa and Australia have won 2-2 out of 3 matches. In such a situation, the other team can be one of them.

India lost their first match of Super-12 against Pakistan by 10 wickets, after which it is now trampled by New Zealand by 8 wickets. In such a situation, the hopes of the semi-finals for Team India have become hazy.

India is now dependent on other teams to reach the semi-finals. Now the eyes of Team India will be on the match between Afghanistan and New Zealand. From here, India will have to beat New Zealand, Scotland and Namibia by a big margin, while Afghanistan will have to win the match against New Zealand. After this, Team India can win on the basis of net run rate.

Won on the basis of all-round performance against a strong team: Kiwi captain Williamson

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson credited his team’s all-round performance for the eight-wicket win against India in the crucial T20 World Cup match. Williamson said that he kept India under pressure throughout the match.

Batting first, the Indian team could only score 110 runs for seven wickets. In reply, New Zealand achieved the target for the loss of only two wickets.

Williamson said after the match,

“There is a strategy before every match but today it was a win against a strong team like India. We kept them under pressure throughout the match and our openers did a great job.”

He praised his bowling attack, especially Ish Sodhi. Sodhi took important wickets of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

  • Williamson said, “We have two good spinners and the bowlers impressed as a unit. Ish Sodhi is a prolific bowler in limited overs cricket and spinners are proving to be very useful in these conditions.
  • Sodhi, who was the player of the match, said, “The wicket here was such that we had to adapt very quickly. What we played in Sharjah was very different. The length and width of the boundary varied greatly. A big part of our game is to use spin bowlers in the middle overs. But it is done by fast bowlers in the set powerplays.
  • “Getting the wicket of Tim Southee in the Powerplay was very important for us and it helped us do our bit in the middle overs,” he added.
